New National Identity Card with the title of “Moulavi” /”Moulaviyya”

On the request of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Registration of Persons has agreed to issue new National Identity Card , with the title of “Moulavi” (Male) /”Moulaviyya” (Female)  for the religious  scholars   who have qualified as Moulavi/Moulaviyya and passed out   from the Registered  Arabic Colleges  in Sri Lanka.

The Moulavi/Moulaviyyas who are eligible to apply   for National Identity   Card   with the title of “Moulavi”/ “Moulaviyya” are kindly requested   to submit all required documents along with application   to get the necessary certificate issued by this Department for the issuance of new National Identity Card by the Department of Registration of Persons.

It should be noted that this Department has not issued any Moulavi Identity Cards     after   2018.

The Moulavi/Moulaviyya  who has  already got  Moulavi Identy Card   issued   by  Department  of Muslim Religious & Cultural Affairs are kindly   informed    such Identity Cards  are no more  valid  and that they should  apply  for a new NIC  as per the  above procedure, if  they would be  interested   in applying  for new NIC   with the title  of “Moulavi/Moulaviyya”.
