LAUNCHING OF HOME GARDENING IN THE MOSQUES, ARABIC COLLEGES AND QURAN CLASSES UNDER THE CONCEPT OF “A BETTER TOMORROW FROM RIGHTEOUS FARMING”

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs organised the program of launching of Home Garden project in the Mosques, Arabic Colleges and Quran Classes in the Colombo District today at the Muhiyadeen Grand Jummah Mosque in Dehiwela, in coordination with the Ministry of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Colombo District Mosques Federation, under the concept of “A better tomorrow from Righteous Farming” National Program of Expeditious Food Crop Production – 2022 of the Government.

Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, Minister of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs was the Chief Guest at the event.

On the instructions of the Hon. Minister of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs has already requested all mosques, Arabic Colleges and Quran Classes to promote growing food crops through the system of home gardening in their premises wherever possible.

Mr. Ibrahim Ansar, Director of the Department of MRCA made the welcome remarks at the launching ceremony. Mr. Somaratne Vithanapathirana, Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural Affairs spoke on the importance of the Religious places and institutions which could play in promoting the home garden project.
Muslim Religious leaders representing the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, Shariya Council, National Shoora Council and Supreme Council of Sufi Thareeqas, Officers of the Department of Agriculture and Senior Police officers and Executive Committee members of the Colombo District Mosques Federation and the Board of Trustees of the Dehiwela Grand Jummah Mosque attended the program.

Hon Minister of Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural Affairs, Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural Affairs, Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and other distinguished guests planted the plants and saplings of food crops during this event.
